Sybaris IP was founded by Claire H.L. Chang, an experienced IP specialist with a passion for empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to navigate the complex world of intellectual property.
Inspired by the ancient city of Sybaris, where chefs enjoyed a 1-year monopoly on their original and elaborate culinary recipes, Claire recognizes the significance of intellectual property (IP) protection in today’s world. With her legal and business background (LLM & MBA) and 15 years of experience in IP and related issues across three different countries - Taiwan, Singapore, and the Netherlands, Claire’s extensive experience and expertise enable her to provide comprehensive and tailored support to help SMEs protect and monetize their intellectual property in a competitive global marketplace.
Claire currently holds several roles, including Senior IP Licensing Counsel at the Dutch national research institute where she also delivers IP awareness training to the organization at large. Additionally, she serves as one of the IP board members at QuTech, a quantum computing research center, where she provides guidance on all IP-related matters.
Claire has been actively involved in facilitating businesses in recent years to develop their IP strategy, increase IP awareness, and boost IP creation and valorization. With a strong track record of dealing with clients in various countries and regions, including Asia, Oceania, Europe, the U.S., and South Africa, Claire possesses exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
She is creative, target-driven, strategic, proactive, tenacious, pragmatic, and full of entrepreneurial spirit.
